Two Leading Jews Re-elected As Members of Parliament in Brazil

Two leading members of the Jewish community, Dr. Horacio Lafer and Dr. Aaron Steinbruch, have been re-elected to Brazil’s Federal Chamber of Deputies.

Dr. Lafer is a former Finance Minister of Brazil and Dr. Steinbruch is president of the Jewish Federation of this city. The election of Dr. Salo Brand, president of the local YMHA, is still not decided. Two other Jews, Dr. Isaac Izeckson and Francisco Silbert, were elected to the Rio de Janeiro City Council on the Socialist slate.
