The Jewish Agency’s Youth Aliyah Department has decided to name the Villa Rosemary of the Has Beyth Youth Aliyah College “Rose Jacobs House” on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Mrs. Rose Jacobs, honorary president of Hadassah and “as a token of appreciation by the Youth Aliyah of her notable work.” Mrs. Jacobs, a former president of Hadassah, initiated the Youth Aliyah program which the Hadassah supports.

In a statement announcing the honoring of Mrs. Jacobs, the Youth Aliyah Department said: “During the Zionist Congress held in Lacerne in 1935 Rose Jacobs signed an agreement with the late Dr. Georg Landauer–at that time financial director of Youth Aliyah–to bring about the collaboration of the Hadassah Women’s Zionist Organization with the Youth Aliyah Department of the Jewish Agency. Hadassah’s agreement to make the mobilization of aid for Youth Aliyah the central feature of its program opened a new and glorious page in the annals of both organizations in their work on behalf of Jewish children. Indeed the subsequent outstanding development of Youth Aliyah cannot possibly be envisaged without the loyal cooperation of the Hadassah women. It was the great privilege of Rose Jacobs to present the plan to her organization.”
