The Soviet Union is continuing its anti-Israeli line in propaganda issued in at least nine languages, it was revealed here today. The latest anti-Israeli diatribe appeared in “New Times,” a journal published in Moscow in nine languages, circulated today by the Soviet delegation to the United Nations.
“New Times” features an article entitled “The Jordanian Scene, “by one E. Maximov. who reiterates all the old Arab-Soviet canards about Israel being a pawn of “Western imperialism.” It is “imperialism,” according to the Soviet writer, that “provoked the Palestine war” which resulted in the establishment of Israel. The article pictures the Arab refugees in Jordan as people who had “fled from Israeli terror.” As to the present situation, the writer declares:
“Some Western diplomats in Amman are suggesting that Israel would get that part of the country (Jordan) which lies west of the Jordan River, while the rest would be divided between Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Republic. Judging by all the signs, the purpose of the plan is to strengthen Israel as imperialism’s chief bastion in the Middle East.”
