Erich Koch, Nazi gauleiter for parts of Poland and the Ukraine, where he is accused of responsibility for the murder of hundreds of thousands of Jews during the Nazi regime, asked the court trying him in Warsaw today to call in two members of the International Court of Justice, at The Hague, to witness the trial.
Koch, who has told the court that he is not only innocent of murder but that he deserves commendation for “all the good” he did for Jews and Poles during World War II, also asked the court to adjourn the trial until he could bring witnesses from West Germany to testify on his behalf.
The court took both requests under advisement, and meanwhile heard a parade of witnesses who were unanimous in their condemnation of Koch.
