The American Jewish Congress will appeal a decision by the New York State Commission Against Discrimination which, in effect, granted sanction to the policy of the Arabian American Oil Company of screening out Jews for employment in Saudi Arabia and New York.

In a statement by Shad Polier, chairman of the Congress’ Commission on Law and Social Action, the organization hit out at statements by the State Department to SCAD that United States interests would be adversely affected if New York State’s law barring bias in employment were applied in this case. He expressed the belief that the Federal and state governments “have the obligation to see to it that the bigoted practices of other nations are not allowed to breed discrimination with in our own borders.”
