NEW YORK (Dec. 3)
A series of gala Chanukah festivals for Israel will be held in key Jewish communities in the United States and Canada during the next week to spur the sale of Israel bonds. Admission to the festivals, at which distinguished artists of opera, stage, screen and television will perform, will be free to those who purchase Israel bonds.
The overwhelming demand for tickets to the Chanukah Festival for Israel at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Monday evening, December 8 has resulted in a complete sell-out of the more than 20,000 entrance tickets and a second performance has been scheduled for Monday evening, December 15, it was announced today by Ira Guilden, chairman of the New York Committee for State of Israel Bonds, sponsors of the event. The Chanukah festival brings to a climax the 1958 campaign in New York for $15,000,000 in Israel bond sales.
