A warning that the “well-being and safety of all of us” is threatened by “the invasion of civil rights” and the “denial of civil liberties” to any minority was sounded here tonight by Gov. Robert B. Meyner of New Jersey,

Speaking at the first annual Herbert H. Lehman Award Dinner, sponsored by the Herbert H. Lehman Institute of Ethics of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Gov. Meyner criticized “the lack of progress” in the field of human relations.

Dr. Louis Finkelstein, Chancellor of the Seminary, presented the Lehman award to Gov. Meyner and Jack D. Weiler, New York realtor and philanthropist, for “unflagging service to the society of mankind.”
