Gratification over the appointment of Christian Herter as the new American Secretary of State was expressed here today by the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Herter’s appointment is welcomed by the Israel Government, the spokesman declared, because of his ready grasp of problems presented to him in the past by Israeli representatives in the United States, and because he has shown himself able to handle issues in the Middle East.
