Chief Rabbi Itzhak Halevi Herzog, 71-year-old leader of the Ashkenazic community, was still on the critical list today, although a medical bulletin today reassured Israel that he has regained consciousness. Only members of his immediate family are being permitted to visit the Chief Rabbi.

Prayers are continuing all over Israel for the recovery of the Chief Rabbi, who has been ill for some weeks. Yesterday, a minyan of sages, led by Chief Rabbi R. Kook, of Tiberias, held special prayers at the tomb of ancient Reb Meir ba’nai Haness, at Tiberias. As part of the ritual, the sages, following ancient tradition, added a formal name to the Chief Rabbi identification, naming him “Itahak Isaac Hezekiah Halevi Herzog.”
