Col. Shoshana Gershonovitz, former commander of the Women’s Corps of the Israel Army, left for the United States today to take up the post of special attache to the Israel Embassy in Washington. Col. Gershonovitz will be the liaison officer between the Washington Embassy and women’s organizations in the United States.

The liaison post was established in recognition of the importance of women’s organizations working in the United States on behalf of Israel. In order to assume the new position in Washington, Col. Gershonovitz retired from the Army. She has been succeeded by Lt. Col. Dina Werth, who is also known in the United States where she visited on behalf of the Israel bond drive.
