A five-year plan for the construction of 160,000 apartments which is expected to take care of most housing needs of new immigrants was submitted formally today to the Israel Cabinet by Mordechai Namir, Israel’s Labor Minister.

The construction would be a Joint effort of Government and private builders and would involve expenditure of 1,050,000,000 pounds. The new housing would be for immigrants still in transit camps and in substandard housing. The plan is based on the assumption of 40,000 new immigrants arriving annually.
