A 13-member commission to manage Jerusalem’s municipal affairs, following annulment last week of last November’s municipal election, was named today by Dr. Joseph Burg, acting Minister of the Interior.

The commission, which will serve until new elections are held or the results of the election are re-validated, is headed by former Mayor Ish-Shalom and includes representatives of all parties in the suspended Municipal Council.

A bill authorizing the Jerusalem District Court to validate 50 previously rejected ballots cast in the elections to this city’s municipal government, was approved by a parliamentary committee today. If the measure is adopted, it will eliminate the need to hold a new election here.
