Hadasash will embark upon an unprecedented shekel-selling campaign in connection with the 25th World Zionist Congress scheduled to convene in Jerusalem next December. This was disclosed today in a joint announcement by Dr. Miriam K. Freund, national president of Hadassah, Miss Juliet N. Benjamin, Hadassah’s chairman of the United States Shekel and Election Board, and Mrs. Mortinear Jacobaon, Hadassah’s national chairman for Zionist affairs.

The decision was taken today at the closing session of Hadassah’s mid-winter conference. The announcement by the Hadassah leaders disclosed that the shekel selling campaign will be conducted throughout the American Jewish community in an attempt to enroll the maximum number of American Jews in the Zionist movement. The 318,000 members of Hadassah automatically own shekels, payment for which is included in Hadassah dues. More than 200 top Hadassah leaders from all parts of the United States participated in the mid-winter conference.
