In an atmosphere of official condemnation of the recent outbreaks of anti-Semitism, the Chamber of Deputies today passed a law calling for the prevention and repression of genocide.
The law, adopted by a vote of 359 to 12, labels genocide a “crime against the rights of peoples,” and denies political asylum in Italy to any one guilty of genocide. The last provides that, for persons responsible of genocide, “extradition must be a legally and universally established rule.” Fascist members of the Chamber voted against the law.
