Argentine Jews Start Construction of Teachers Seminary Building

The cornerstone for the Teachers’ Seminary building of the Buenos Aires Kehilla was laid here in a ceremony attended by Dr. Luis Mackay, Argentine Minister of Education, Dr. Aryeh Levavi, Israel’s Ambassador to Argentina and delegations of pupils from Argentine and Uruguayan Jewish schools.

Speakers at the event included David Tabaman, chairman of the Central Council of Jewish Schools in Argentina; Leon Podhorzer, secretary of the DAIA, and Prof. Jose Mendelson, veteran Jewish educator. Construction of the Seminary has been a basic goal of Buenos Aires Jewry.
