Jewish Trust Corporation Reports $23,500,000 Restitution from Germany

The Jewish Trust Corporation, the group officially recognized by the West German Government as the successor organization entitled to receive Jewish restitution funds in the British Zone of the Federal Republic and in West Berlin, has recovered thus far a total of 134,000,000 Deutschemarks (approximately $23,500, 000) according to the corporation’s ninth annual report, made public here today.

Of the total, the report shows, 115, 000,000 Deutschemarks have been distributed in the British Zone, and about 15, 000, 000 in the former French zone of West Germany. The funds of the JTC go mainly to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Central British Fund for Jewish Relief and Rehabilitation, and the local Jewish communities in West Germany. Some of the funds go also to victims of Nazism living in France.
