The second stage in the construction of the huge National Convention Center here–Binyanei Ha ‘Uma–has been completed and the main hall, seating 3,000 persons, is now fully equipped with air conditioning and the latest electronic devices, it was announced here today by Meir Grossman, member of the executive of the Jewish Agency.
Mr. Grossman told a press conference that construction was starting on the third stage of the project. This will include the completion of smaller halls, conference rooms and offices, most of which will be ready when the forthcoming Zionist Congress opens in the Center in December.
A scale model, the latest and presumably the final one, of the new Parliament building was unveiled here today by Moshe Rosetti, clerk of the Knesset, who called the plan a blend of classic Greek and modern trends. Work on the building will begin early in 1961.
