Dr. Heinz Wolf, the Frankfurt prosecutor, has announced plans for “the two greatest trials in the history of Frankfurt” against Nazi killers of Jews in concentration camps, according to press reports here today.
Dr. Wolf was quoted as saying that one of the trials will involve officials of the Auschwitz camp, where hundreds of thousands of persons were killed. He said that for the Auschwitz trial, “we already have a list of 599 persons but unfortunately of these 599 murders, only nine are in jail.” He also disclosed that he intended to file 13 additional warrants soon and that he hoped to be able to take action against “many others” in “not too long a time.”
The prosecutor said the other trial, “perhaps more important from the historical point of view” than the trial of the Auschwitz killers, would be against Adolph Eichmann, head of the Jewish Department of the Gestapo who directed the mass annihilation of Jews, whose whereabouts are currently unknown; Herman Krumay, Eichmann’s successor; Otto Huntsche, a section commander involved in the deaths of many thousands of Jews “and others of the same ilk,” Krumay now operates a sports store at Korbach.
