Judge David L. Ullman, chairman of the Fellowship Commission Committee on Opportunities for Higher Education, has urged the Governor’s Committee on Education to end bias in higher education in Pennsylvania.
Judge Ullman proposed that legislation be enacted with non-discrimination provisions for grants affecting post-high school educational institutions. He also recommended that all colleges and graduate schools, other than denominational institutions, be required to drop all questions on their admission forms on race, religion or national origin of students.
Another proposal offered by the Jewish leader was for creation of a state commission or council on higher education which would seek to expand facilities and opportunities for such education for all qualified persons, regardless of race, religion, national origin, sex or economic status.
