Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and members of his Government were reported today considering the answer to be given a new Argentine note, received here yesterday, asking Israel what the country intends to do in the line of “adequate reparations” for violation of Argentine sovereignty in the capture of Adolf Eichmann.
The note, delivered in Buenos Aires by the Foreign Ministry to Ambassador Arye Levavi of Israel, requested a reply to the Argentine note of June 8 demanding reparations. The new note did not repeat the original Argentine demand that Eichmann be returned to Argentina and that his captors be punished.
Informed sources said that Mr. Ben-Gurion, in his capacity as Acting Foreign Minister, would probably draft a letter repeating apologies Israel has already tendered and pointing out that Israel now considered the matter closed.
