The Cabinet today named Abba S. Eban as Minister of Education. Mr. Eban, who has been a Minister Without Portfolio since the formation of the current Cabinet, had served as Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations and to Washington before his election to the Knesset last November.
The Cabinet deferred action today on a proposal to postpone elections for the Chief Rabbinate pending a ruling of the Supreme Court on whether a new nominations board should be appointed.
