A leading Catholic daily here today urged the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Vatican and Israel. In an editorial published in the Correio Paulistano, signed by the chief editor Juao de Scantimburgo, it was suggested that the Vatican might serve as a “shock absorber” between the Arabs and Jews.
