Samuel D. Gershovitz, 53, executive vice-president of the National Jewish Welfare Board, died yesterday in New Rochelle, N. Y. He had been executive vice-president of the JWB since 1947. Funeral services will be held tomorrow with New York.

Mr. Gershovitz joined the JWB in 1939 as field director of its Mid-West section. He served as executive director of Jewish Community Centers in Chicago from 1944 to 1947 returning to the JWB in 1947, He was a member of the board of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and also a member of the governors board of the American Jewish Historical Society. In 1952 he won the Sam Beber Award of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization for his long career of service to young people.
