Gerhard Jahn, a 33-year-old attorney who has frequently attacked neo-Nazi activities and resurgent anti-Semitism in West Germany, was elected today as chairman of the indemnification committee of the Bundestag, lower house of Parliament. Mr. Jahn is a member of the Bundestag, representing the Social Democratic Party.
Mr. Jahn succeeds to the committee chairmanship previously held by Alfred Frenzel, a Bundestag deputy arrested last month on charges of having had “treasonous relations” with Czechoslovakia. The indemnification committee deals with all matters of compensation to Jews and other victims of nazism.
