President Joseph Kasavubu, of the Republic of Congo, today broke off diplomatic relations with the United Arab Republic, and ordered the “immediate” departure of the UAR Ambassador and his entire staff from the Congo, according to official reports received here today.
President Kasavubu accused the Cairo ambassador of “plotting to overthrow the established authority” of the Republic, and of encouraging “rebel elements” in the country.
(A first group of 25 high-ranking Congolese officials will take part in a four-month public administration course organized in Israel for African officials under United Nations auspices, it was announced today in Jerusalem. The course was developed by the Israel Productivity Institute and the Foreign Ministry.)
