Anti-Semitic vandals tried to set fire last night to the Rue Pavce synagogue by placing gasoline-soaked newspapers against a, synagogue wall but passers-by put out the blaze, police reported today.
Police reported that the vandalism attempt was the second against the synagogue during the past two weeks. A police investigation was underway.
