A joint Israeli-American company will be set up soon as part of Israel’s efforts to increase trade with African companies. The Israeli partner will be Dizengoff-West Africa and the American partner will be one of the largest American cocoa importers. Its identity was not disclosed.

The goal of the new firm will be to boost Israel sales to West Africa. Since Israel will not be able to absorb an equivalent volume of African exports, it is intended to sell part of the African products, which will be mainly raw materials, in North and South America. The company therefore will set up offices in New York.

P. Rosenberg, director of Dizengoff-West Africa, left yesterday for French West Africa with two officials of the Israel Ministry of Commerce and Industry for general talks on the expansion of Israel-West African trade. The delegation includes the head of the Israel Diamond Development Company, a Government corporation engaged in buying raw diamonds from primary sources. Senegal, Mali and the Ivory Coast are included in the trade tour.
