Special Medals for Heroism were posthumously awarded here this weekend by the United States Congress to the four chaplains who, during the Second World War, lost their lives when they gave up their life belts to other men during the sinking of the U.S.S. Dorchester. Two of the chaplains were Protestants, one a Roman Catholic and one a Jew–Chaplain Alexander D. Goode of Marion, Indiana.
