The annual meeting of the Council of Jews from Austria in Britain approved a resolution yesterday declaring that any Austrian indemnification legislation which would discriminate against Jewish victims of the Nazi period in that country “would constitute a violation of the undertakings in the treaty of state” restoring Austria’s independence.
The resolution added that such legislation would be “wholly unacceptable on legal and moral grounds. ” An appeal was addressed to Dr. Alphons Gorbach, the new Austria Chancellor designate, to help assure indemnification to all Austrian victims of nazism without discrimination.
