A group of 140 Orthodox rabbis, members of the Rabbinical Council of America, left for Israel last night by non-stop El Al jet, to attend the organization’s conference in Jerusalem next week, the first religious conclave ever to be held in Israel by an American rabbinic body. Another group of 140 rabbis is scheduled to leave on El Al planes for Israel on-Wednesday to attend the meeting, in which more than 500 rabbis are expected to participate.
The five-day conference will open in Jerusalem on July 24. Sessions will also be held in Tel Aviv. During the conference, the delegates will participate in dedication ceremonies of a new $500, 000 religious academic center in Rehovot, to be known as Yeshivat Hadarom. The new center includes two dormitories, dining rooms, a high school and a teachers’ seminary for 250 students from all parts of the world.
