Sir Victor Sassoon, philanthropist, industrialist and scion of the famous Anglo-Indian family founded at Bombay, more than 150 years ago by David Ben Sasson, died here Saturday night, aged 80.
Sir Victor was the second Baronet of his family. He had served as a captain in the British Royal Air Force, was a member for two terms in the twenties of the Indian Legislative Assembly, and had participated in a Royal Commission for investigation of Indian labor conditions in 1929. Members of his family have been extremely active in the leadership of the Anglo-Jewish community for several generations.
