The 50 Moroccan Jews who were arrested last week and charged with attempting to illegally emigrate to Israel, were released in Rabat yesterday, but will have to stand trial on charges of attempting to leave the country without exit visas.
World Jewish leaders, currently meeting here for a number of Jewish conferences, expressed their pleasure at the Moroccan move which was taken without any external pressure from Jewish groups.
