Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion is expected to visit Africa later this year, according to a report published here today in Yediot Aharonot, an afternoon daily. The report said the Premier would probably attend the Tanganyika independence celebrations on December 9 and may also visit Upper Volta as a guest of President Yameogo, who recently visited Israel.
Efforts also are being made to arrange a meeting between Mr. Ben-Gurion and Jomo Kenyatta, the nationalist leader of Kenya who was recently released from a British prison. Unless major internal or international developments interfere, Premier Ben-Gurion might extend this visit and proceed to Burma as the guest of Burmese Premier U Nu, the paper said.
West Nigerian Premier S.L. Akintola, arrived here today accompanied by Mrs. Akintola and senior members of his government for a week’s visit. The visit is part of the West Nigerian Premier’s tour of nine countries in the Middle East, Europe and the United States with the objective of seeking assistance for development schemes in the fields of agriculture and industry.
Last year a group of Israeli experts visited Nigeria and prepared a blueprint for the agricultural development of the country. About 400 West Nigerian youth are expected to arrive in Israel next year for training in cooperative settlements. Altogether, some 600 Israeli experts are currently working in West Nigeria.
