Bar-Ilan University opened its academic year today with an enrollment of some 750 students. Ceremonies marking the opening of the academic year were conducted by acting President Tuvia Bar-Ilan, with the participation of Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Issar Yehuda Unterman. Among the new courses being offered this year by the university is a course in criminology featuring lectures by Supreme Court Chief Justice Chaim Cohen.
In Haifa yesterday, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology opened its academic year with ceremonies highlighted by an address by acting President David Ginsburg who told the new students that they were born in an atomic era and are now on the threshold of a space era. He said Israel, poor in natural resources, must exploit its Jewish genius to the utmost.
