Israel’s three-man court which tried former Gestapo Colonel Adolf Eichmann for crimes against the Jewish people and crimes against humanity, by heading up the Nazi regime’s “final solution” of the Jewish problem at the cost of 6,000,000 European Jewish lives, is expected to hand down its verdict about December 15, it was learned here today.
The four-month long trial of Eichmann ended last August 14. The Judges were reported today to be completing their deliberations. It is expected that the court’s verdict will be handed down in a document running to about 500 pages.
Correspondents from news services, newspapers, radio and television are expected to flock here again from most parts of the world to cover the culmination of the Eichmann process. The verdict will be read in Hebrew and will be translated, simultaneously, into French and German. The reading of the verdict is expected to take six days.
Stenographers and translators working for the court in the preparation of the final verdict are being held incommunicado, and all precautions have been taken against revelation of the verdict prior to its delivery in court.
