Egypt’s new policy of “sequestration” of property as part of its new “Arab Socialism” has, so far, affected about 600 property holders, Peter Thomas, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, told the House of Commons today.

Mr. Thomas said that 31 of the property holders facing “sequestration” are British subjects. He did not identify the others on the list. However, it was pointed out here that it is known that many, perhaps most, of the victims of Egypt’s new policy are Jews. The last list announced by the Cairo Government showed that, of 171 property owners named, 169 were Jews.
