The West German Government is considering starting probes into the activities of all those who participated in the notorious “Wannsee Conference” of 1942, at which the liquidation of all Jews was decided upon by Nazi leaders, it was authoritatively stated here today.
One of the participants in this conference was Adolf Eichmann, who is now awaiting the verdict in Israel after his trial there on charges of responsibility for the Nazi annihilation of 6,000,000 Jews in Europe. It is as a result of revelations which he made during the trial that the Bonn Government is now planning action against the other participants, it was emphasized.
The announcement of the Government’s intentions was made today by Erwin Schule, head of the West German Center for the Investigation of Nazi War Crimes. He also revealed that, contrary to Eichmann’s insistence that he was merely carrying out orders which he was duty-bound to implement, instructions had been issued to the Gestapo that members of the organization did not have to carry out orders which were criminal.
