George Rockwell, leader of the American Nazi Party, has applied for a permit to hold a rally in Union Square here on April 20, Adolf Hitler’s birthday, it was disclosed today by a spokesman for the Department of Parks. Parks Commissioner Newbold Morris said that he was studying the application.

Last year the New York State Court of Appeals upheld Rockwell’s right to speak in New York after the city had denied him a permit in 1960 to hold a Fourth of July rally.
