The United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh began its 50th year of community service at its annual meeting today by revealing plans for Pittsburgh’s first apartment house project for elderly people in good health.
The apartment will be built by Senior Citizens Housing, an agency recently created by the United Jewish Federation and the Jewish Home for the Aged. It will be a 96-unit, seven story building with special built-in physical features suited to the needs of aged persons; There will be room for 84 single individuals and 12 couples in the apartment, which is expected to be in use within a year.
