The establishment of a Society of Honor to be made up of persons who contribute $1,000 or more for advancement of the Reform branch of Judaism, on a national scale, was announced here today by Jack Davis of New York, chairman of the campaign and a member of the board of trustees of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
“The Honor Society has a twofold goal of 1,000 members, and the raising of $1,000,000 in the the next five months,” Mr. Davis said. The Society’s $1,000,000 goal is part of the $4,122,769 being sought this year to underwrite the synagogue service, rabbinical training and international assistance programs of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. The drive for the raising of these funds is being carried on by the Combined Campaign for American Reform Judaism.
