Mayor Robert F. Wagner today proclaimed Wednesday, March 14, as ORT day in recognition of the organization’s 82 years of service dedicated to the “building and rebuilding of human lives.” In the proclamation issued by the Mayor at City Hall, ORT was praised for supplying “trained manpower to the nations of the free world and to awakening nations.”
Ceremonies will be held next Monday when the name of Times Square will be changed to ORT Square, for one week. ORT Day is observed by the more than 400 chapters of Women’s American Ort throughout the country and is meant to acquaint the public with the worldwide ORT program of vocational training.
