A public school in this city was dedicated here officially carrying the name of “Estado de Israel”–State of Israel–while at Guadalajara, one of the large provincial centers in this country, another public school was dedicated, bearing the name of Albert Einstein.
At the ceremonies in this city, officials of the Mexican Ministry of Education and representatives of the Israel Embassy here, joined in stressing the fact that the new Estado de Israel School illustrates the warm relations existing between the Republic of Mexico and the State of Israel. The Estado de Israel School will have an enrollment of about 2,000 students, most of them from middle-class and worker families.
At the Guadalajara ceremonies, President Adolfo Lopez led the dedication of the Albert Einstein School, and warmly thanked the Jewish community in this country for its contribution. Construction of the school had been financed by the Mexican Jewish community. Others who participated in the ceremonies included Minister of Education Jaime Torres Bodet; Gil Preciado, Governor of the State of which Guadalajara is the capital; Sigmund Bibring, chairman of the Mexican Jewish Community’s central committee; and leaders of the local Jewish community.
