Three Picket N.a.a.c.p. Convention in Atlanta with Anti-jewish Signs

Three pickets in military-style uniforms, two of them wearing swastika armbands, and carrying anti-Semitic signs, picketed a Negro convention in Municipal Auditorium today. A police patrol wagon stood by, but police made no arrests.

Robert Bolling, one of the defendants indicted but never tried in the 1959 bombing of a synagogue in Atlanta, was one of the pickets. The others were identified as Harry Blair, of Arlington, Va., and Lawrence Smith of Washington, D. C., both members of the American Nazi party.

The signs read: “Race Mix Jew Plot,” “Communist Jews Stay Out of Atlanta” and “Why Must Negroes Be Led by Jews?” The target of the picketing was the 53rd annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.”
