Group of 48 U.S. College Educators and Clergymen Leave for Israel

A group of 48 college educators and Christian clergymen, representing 11 denominations from 18 states and the District of Columbia, left today for a 30-day tour of Israel sponsored by the Inter-University Committee on Israel in cooperation with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The group, which includes two university presidents, college deans and department chairmen as well as outstanding churchmen and scholars, will meet with Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and other Government leaders as well as Israeli religious leaders and scholars.

They will tour all of Israel, devoting special attention to the holy places, recent archaeological excavations, the work of the Afro-Asian Institute, and various academic institutions. They will also conduct a study of the acculturation and integration of diverse ethnic and religious groups in the country.
