Reports that the tomb of the former Chief Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook in the centuries-old Jewish cemetery on Jordanian-held Mount of Olives, has been demolished by Jordanian bulldozers, gave rise to expressions of grief and shock here today.

The executive of the Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizeachi organization today adopted a resolution sharply protesting the desecration of one of Jewry’s sacred shrines. The resolution, which was forwarded to the Foreign Ministry, was adopted after reports on the desecration were presented to the organization by Interior Minister Moshe Shapira and Dr. Yosef Burg, Minister of Social Welfare.
