Two men who were members of an extremist group accused of plotting the assassination of leading Miami Jewish personalities will be sentenced here tomorrow after being convicted on related charges.
Donald Branch, who was convicted last June 21 in an attempted bombing of the Anshe Ernes Congregation in southwest Miami, will be sentenced on charges of possessing and transporting explosives. George Victor faces sentence on conviction of possessing explosives. Michael Babey, a third member of the “Minutemen, ” was found innocent. Branch was sentenced to six years in Jail in the Anshe Ernes case.
He will stand trial a third time on November 28 on charges of placing explosives last February 18 at the home of Don Shoemaker, editor of the Miami Herald. He faces a maximum term of six years in prison on the explosive charge. Victor faces a three-year term.
The case was solved by Stefan Plumacifier, a Miami police undercover agent, working with the State Attorney’s office. Plumacher found in Branch’s home a variety of American Nazi Party literature and files on Jews, Negroes and alleged Communists, Plumacher also presented evidence that the trio planned to kill such Jewish figures as Richard E. Gerstein, Dade County State Attorney. Branch is now in prison, and Victor is under $15,000 bond.
