Another Ex-ss Officer ‘had to Obey Orders’ to Kill

Wilhelm Doering, a former SS officer on trial on charges of complicity in the execution of 683 Russian Jews and 16 children deemed by the Nazis as insane in the 1941-42 occupation of Russia, testified here today that he had received orders from Hitler and Gestapo Chief Heinrich Himmler, which “had to be obeyed.”

Dr. A. Bradfisch, another former SS officer who was sentenced to 10 years at hard labor in a different case, testified as a witness for the defendant. Bradfisch also cited the orders “which we had to obey. ” Doering, 45, was the Criminal Investigation Department chief of the Siegburg district when he was arrested.
