Former Ss Officer to Face Trial for Murdering 70, 000 Jews in Poland

Martin Fellencz, a 53-year-old former SS officer, will go on trial November 14 before the Flenburg Jury Court on charges of murdering 70, 000 Jews in Poland during World War II, the Flenburg prosecutor’s office announced today.

Fellencz, who has worked as a bookkeeper and served as a Free Democratic Party town councillor in Schleswig after the war, was charged with committing the mass murders mainly in Lublin and Cracow. He was accused in a 256-page indictment supported by more than 100 files of documentary evidence. During the trial, which is expected to last at least six weeks, 120 witnesses will be called from Israel, the United States, Canada and Belgium.
