A proposal by a Chicago burial company to establish a cemetery for reburial of Jews in Israel has been accepted by the Minister for Religious Affairs, though he opposes the idea in principle, a spokesman for the Ministry said today.
The spokesman commented on press reports that Minister Zerach Warhaftig had granted a license to the Chicago Shalom Memorial Park Company for that purpose. The spokesman said that representatives of the Chicago firm had been told that, since the company had received the necessary permit two years ago, before Dr. Warhaftig was named Minister, he considered the project as “a fait accompli.”
