The first of a series of documentary reports on the fate of Frankfurt Jews during the Nazi regime, edited by a municipal commission on the history of the Jews in this city will be published soon, commission officials said today.
The first volume of the “Documents of the History of Frankfurt Jews, 1933-1945, ” deals with such questions as the number of Frankfurt Jews deported by the Nazis, the persons responsible for the deportation orders, and how those orders were carried out. The material is based on previously unpublicized material. The commission has been working under the active chairmanship of the Lord Mayor with the assistance of the Frankfurt Archives department.
At Wiesbaden, the Hesse provincial government announced today the creation of an office for research and documentation on the history of the Jews in Hesse. The new office will start its activities at the beginning of 1963.
Working in connection with the present study group for the history of Hesse in general, the new office will seek to portray the contributions made by Jews to the welfare of the province before Hitler, and their fate under the Nazi regime. The study office will seek to collect all relevant documents and historical sources.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
